Who We Are

Central Oregon Land Cruisers (COLC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and, soon to be, TLCA chapter based in Bend, Oregon. We exist to build the off-road and outdoor recreation community up while taking care of the public lands that make Central Oregon one of the best places on earth to live and play.

We're open to anyone. You don't need to be local, own a Toyota, own any vehicle, have off-road experience, or have a modified rig. All you need is an interest in being involved.

It's not ours, it's our turn

COLC operates on a stewardship model. Our leadership positions aren't titles of authority — they're service roles. Every Steward and committee chair earns their position through action: leading events, mentoring new members, and showing up for the community. Term limits and mandatory rotation ensure fresh perspectives and prevent anyone from getting entrenched.

We make decisions by consensus. When we can't agree, we take a week to cool down and try again. If we still can't agree, we vote. The goal is to always to find a decision everyone can live with.

COLC's commitment to public lands has always extended beyond the trails we drive. Our members founded Public Land Stewards, a separate and allied organization, after COLC cleanup events revealed a need for broader stewardship. That's the kind of culture we're building — people who care enough that the work spills over into something bigger.

We partner with hikers, mountain bikers, backcountry skiers, snowmobilers, and other outdoor recreation groups because we all share the same land. We respect all responsible use of public lands and we're stronger when we work together.

COLC is working on becoming a recognized chapter of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA), the premier organization for Toyota Land Cruiser enthusiasts worldwide. TLCA chapter status provides our members with event liability insurance, access to sanctioned events nationwide, advertising in Toyota Trails magazine, and a voice in TLCA governance through our chapter delegate.
